Division Order Courses / Certificate Program

The six-month fully online Division Order Certificate Program is designed for division order analysts and other oil and gas professionals, including, division order technicians, landmen, attorneys, engineers, managers, lease analysts and those seeking a deeper understanding of the division order function in land.

Designed at the request of oil and gas managers seeking to bridge the gap between more seasoned professionals and those new to the industry, the program is the first of its kind in the U.S. Participants will gain a comprehensive and hands-on understanding of division order practices including calculations, revenue distribution, land titles, leases, oil and gas law and contracts.

The curriculum provides specialized, practical training for division order analysts charged with calculating and distributing revenue for oil and gas producing wells. The courses are designed to enhance effectiveness and career prospects.

Format

The Division Order Certificate Program includes six fully online course courses offered self-paced, on your schedule. Participants can take individual courses or complete all six to attain the certificate.

Each course is approximately 12 hours in length and includes video, lectures, documentaries, calculation tutorials, class projects, assignments and a virtual field trip. courses are offered one month at a time. The open date of each course is listed below. Each course needs to be completed within 30 days. The Certificate Program takes six months to finish. After successfully completing all courses in the program, you will receive a Certificate of Completion by PETEX, as evidence that you have learned valuable skills relevant to the industry.

PETEX offers two additional related programs: Professional Land Management Certificate Program and Lease Certificate Program.

Do I need a college degree to take these courses?

No degree is required to take these courses.

Are there any prerequisites to begin the certificate programs?

No prerequisites are required to take the certificate programs.

Can these courses be taken by someone entry level in the field?

These courses are open to anyone interested in beginning or advancing a career in land management or division order management.

Am I able to take the courses if I reside outside the U.S.?

Yes. Our course content is based on industry, laws and practices in the U.S., so please be mindful that not all content will be applicable or correct for other countries.

What are the steps to receive a certificate?

To satisfy the requirements to earn any certificate, students must attend each of the six courses for the course, complete any required assignments, and successfully pass a final exam for each course with a grade of 70 or higher.

In addition, all certificate programs require a final comprehensive exam upon completion of all six courses. The online comprehensive exam will be available to the student once all six courses are complete.

Do I take have to begin with course 1 to start the series?

No. You may begin the certificate programs at any course. Each course is self-contained so students can take them in any sequence that their schedule allows.

Do you have to start the class on the first day of the course, or can you join in at any time?

You must register by the deadline, but the coursework is self-paced, so you have flexibility as to the day you begin the course. We suggest starting that first week so that you can space out the work and learning to participate with fellow students in the online discussion board and forums.

If I miss the registration deadline for the current course, can sign up late?

Unfortunately, we are not able to allow late registrations. Each course repeats every six months so you may join the next conduct of that specific course. Also, you may start your program at any course open for registration and do not have to proceed sequentially from course 1.

Is there a way to take all the courses in order as soon as I wish?

No. The courses are purposely conducted on a schedule so that fellow students may participate in shared learning via online discussion boards and chat as well as interact with the instructor for that month’s topic.

Is there access to the instructor during the course?

Absolutely! Alyce Hoge is available throughout the course to answer questions and participate in the group discussion boards and forums.
